Servicio Filipino, Inc. was personally invited by Silvestre Bello III, the Secretary of Labor and Employment, to forge stronger ties with the new administration during the company’s courtesy call with him last April. The signing of the new Memorandum of Understanding not only strengthened the partnership with the new administration, but also commenced a deeper relationship of collaborative alliance through other programs and projects with the department.

Mayo Uno is the most important occasion for the department since it kick starts the Labor month’s activities. This year, the Department of Labor & Employment commemorated its 115th Labor Day Celebration with over 50 job fairs nationwide. Secretary Bello and all the top officials of the DOLE together with President Rodrigo Duterte and his cabinet led the events in Davao.

Servicio Filipino, Inc. was invited to be part of the major events for May 1, under the collective banner of Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan Job & Business Fairs at the GMall in Davao City. Apart from top DOLE national and regional officials, in attendance were Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez, presidents of the different chambers of commerce and industry, representatives of the Philippine Association of Legitimate Service Contractors, former Labor Secretary Marianito Roque, and GMall owner James Gaisano.

The memorandum of understanding fortifies the partnership Servicio Filipino built with the previous administration under former Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz for the Philippine TalentMap Initiative and the development of the new PhilJobNet platform. On top of that, the memorandum also enhances the company’s commitment by presenting the new grant provided by the SFI Career Center and their partner Suzhou Success Partners Management Consulting Co., LTD for the first ever CareerMap.

Leading Servicio Filipino, Inc.’s delegation was its Chairman Estrellita Anastacio, President and CEO Luis Alberto Anastacio and Treasurer Vivian Guerrero. Also representing subsidiaries of the SFI Group were Temps and Staffers, Inc. President Butch Guerrero and TalentSource, Inc. Managing Director Patricia Acepcion.

The day’s activities began with an address by GMall HR Manager Councilor Joselle Villafuerte on behalf of Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio and Secretaries Lopez and Bello. The memorandum signing for Servicio Filipino Inc. was later led by its President (Luis Alberto) Anastacio and Chairman (Estrellita) Anastacio and Secretary Bello. This was witnessed by SFI’s Treasurer (Vivian) Guerrero and DOLE Bureau of Local Employment Director Dominique Tutay. Later, the jobs and business fair officially opened with over 90 employers and thousands of jobseekers lined up hoping to be hired on the spot.

The signing of the new MOU not only extends the partnership of SFI and DOLE for the next five years but also reinforces the relationship by building new avenues of support given our advocacy for the Filipino Workforce.
